  • Yielead Seed Industry is a high – tech enterprise at the forefront in China, engaging in the R & D, production, sales, etc. of hybrid corn and hybrid rice. John Li Studio design team has designed an office, research, and exhibition space of 5,000 square meters for the headquarters building of Yielead.

The traditional Chinese calendar is closely linked to farming culture. The farming, sowing, harvesting, and other activities in the fields must follow the solar terms of the calendar to pray for a good harvest. Taking the twenty – four solar terms as a clue, the design corresponds to each space and serves as part of the way – finding system, running through the entire project, symbolizing the cycle of the four seasons and the endless continuation of life.

Various “seed banks” around the world store the genetic codes of millions of species on Earth, protecting the biodiversity of the planet and safeguarding food security. The design team has created a seed wall, displaying the seeds of male – sterile lines with independent intellectual property rights of Yielead.

Zhangye, Gansu Province is an important hybrid corn seed production base in China. The installation work “Harvest Scene” is inspired by the terrain of Zhangye and takes intangible – cultural – heritage bamboo weaving as the carrier, presenting a magnificent harvest scene and paying tribute to Zhangye’s contribution to national food security.
